Release and identity
Machine catalogs identify Amigo as a Bally electromechanical pinball machine manufactured in May 1974, with score-reel displays and support for four players.
The July 6, 1974 issue of Cash Box called it a new Bally four-player flipper and reported that volume delivery had been announced. This contemporary commercial documentation supports its classification as an original production game.
Gameplay and operator settings
Amigo's free-ball gate opens through a skill shot, normally using flipper action, although a bumper can also send the ball into the gate-opening lane. A separate skill shot awards an extra ball and is tied to the out-hole bonus.
The out-hole bonus doubles when collected on the final ball. Operators could configure the game for three or five balls per game, replay or add-a-ball operation, and play with or without a match feature.
Advertised features
Bally's contemporary advertisement highlighted skill-lane specials, an out-hole bonus, double bonus, kickout action, a playmore post, free balls, extra balls and a spin target.
