Identity
The Open Pinball Database identifies Bongo as a Bally machine manufactured in March 1964, with electro-mechanical operation, score-reel displays and support for two players.
Bongo is distinct from Bally's 1963 machine 3-In-Line. The database places both in the same machine group but lists them as separate machines, while the Bally parts-catalog coverage reproduced in Marco Specialties' 2000 catalog also lists Bongo and 3-in-line separately.
Production documentation
A collection sale document revised in 2014 records two physical Bally Bongo machines. One is dated March 1964 and the other is dated to 1964. Separately, Marco Specialties describes a 174-page Bally parts catalog covering machines manufactured from February 1963 through January 1969 and includes Bongo among the covered titles. These records support classification as an original production game rather than a prototype, conversion or exhibition prop.
