Gameplay
Players gather items associated with other players while pursuing a high score and trying to remain alive. An internet-connected P3 can introduce encounters with the spirits of earlier rangers; the product page states that an internet connection is not required and that this data can be saved locally when no connection is available.
The game is set in the ruins of a distant civilization. Players take the role of a wandering ranger who searches abandoned buildings for supplies in a world where humanity has nearly disappeared.
Platform and features
Ranger in the Ruins is distributed as a P3 game application and requires the Cosmic Cart Racing P3 playfield module. Multimorphic describes the P3 as a physical pinball platform with real balls, flippers, bumpers, targets, ramps and loops. Its lower playfield uses a touchscreen LCD instead of a conventional wooden playfield.
Operator adjustments allow the number of balls to be configured, extra balls to be disabled and instant multiball modes to be turned off.
