Design and format
The Flip Side is a functional miniature machine made at a scale suitable for an American Girl doll. Its association with Julie Albright gives it a 1970s theme, but the documented machine itself dates to 2019.
The game has flashing lights, a digital scorekeeper and an alphanumeric electronic display. It is configured for one player.
Gameplay
Despite being sold as a doll-sized toy, The Flip Side provides playable pinball rules rather than serving only as a decorative accessory. Contemporary players specifically reported a star feature that awards a 10× playfield multiplier, and one machine was used for a tournament tiebreaker.
