Release and design
Alvin G. & Co. released U.S.A. Football as a two-ended novelty pinball machine in 1992. Contemporary trade coverage described it as supporting one- or two-player action, while the catalog record identifies an October 1992 manufacture date and an alphanumeric electronic display.
The design supports simultaneous head-to-head play through the manufacturer's Switch Flippers system. It also incorporates Auto Flip and a football-themed scoring system called Designated Scoring.
Football gameplay
Players use offense and defense flippers across an end-to-end playfield. Three drop targets advance yardage lights, while completing the targets opens an instant-touchdown opportunity. Striking all three opposing flippers lights an interception.
The rules also include field goals, touchdowns, a timed extra point, penalties that cost yardage and pinball points associated with a replay. When idle, the machine can demonstrate play through an attract mode, and Alvin G. & Co. promoted it for tournament use.
