Theme and objective

The machine presents a noir-style murder mystery set around a casino and its interconnected characters. The player's objective is to solve the mystery by discovering and capturing the killer.

The game contains five cases: Missing Bullet, Broken Mirror, Bloody Dagger, Sticky Fingers and The Tattoo. Cases generally involve collecting evidence, interrogating suspects, choosing a suspected killer and, when the choice is correct, catching the killer.

Gameplay

The elevator provides access to 11 floors and associated awards or modes, including Basement Multiball, Taxi Letters, evidence collection, suspect selection, equipment awards, Elevator Madness, Penthouse Party and Catch the Killer on the Roof.

Clues can be collected by spelling T-A-X-I, completing the Super Skill Shot and matching three fingerprints in the slots. Evidence is collected on the third and fifth floors, while equipment can be awarded through the sixth floor and several playfield features.

Catch the Killer requires completing a Taxi Chase followed by a phone shot. Successful completion ends the case and starts a four-ball multiball; a new case begins after that multiball.

Playfield features and modes

Key playfield features include the elevator ramp, Taxi Chase or Train Loop shots, the Sewer, Roulette, the Mystery Target, slots and a three-bank target.

Basement Multiball uses the Roulette VUK, Sewer and elevator shots for jackpots. Elevator Madness is a two-ball multiball focused on changing and exiting elevator floors, while Penthouse Party awards increasing values from flashing shots until its timer expires.

The rulesheet also documents special features including Midnight Madness, a four-ball multiball event, and a 3D mode.
